This problem has bothered me for almost a year if not more. Basically during the upgrade from Win 2000 to 2003 it changes the permissions on a reg key. This prevents the scanner from updating files. Today to try and troubleshoot the problem I tested some on Hoyty.com before trying it at school. During the uninstall it said it couldn't remove the key in question. That seemed strange. So I went and tried to delete it, no dice. Figured it was permissions, checked, reset. Still nothing. Rebooted and ran chkdsk, still nothing. Hmm... Finally after an hour of trying things I finally realized I was changing permissions at root key rather than the sub key, DOH! After I propogated the permissions down the tree I could delete. At work I was able to just fix permissions. Yeah.
