Someone else's old house

I am really beginning to realize the um joy of living in someone else's old house that I really know nothing about. The more things I uncover and find the more confusion and questions I have. Things like the fish, the range, the power, that damn toilet in basement. I just keep finding more and more that makes no sense. Maybe at some point in the last 50 years it did, I don't know. I keep wondering what I will find next. One example is there is a three switch panel near my front door. I am unable to determine what the switches do. There are two lights in the front of the house so I assume they control it but who knows. More exploring and learning for me.
